I can’t remember when everything happened (each day seems to have rolled together into one) so I will just tell you everything that happened while we were away for 2 weeks.

Mum, Brett, Cameron and I went down to Toronto (Streetsville and Milton) on the Monday (March 23rd). Cameron was very good on the 5 hour drive (that is including a 45 minute stop). He slept for 2hrs then we stopped for lunch and he slept for another hour after that. We stayed with Aunt Christine and Robert and Mum stayed with Stewart, Kate and Emily.

The first few nights Cameron slept in the room with Brett and I, but it didn’t work. When he woke up in the night, which he does all the time, he wasn’t able to get back to sleep because he was too busy trying to get our attention. He had his little face pressed up against the mesh of the cot and was ‘calling’ to us and neither of us could ignore him or not laugh at him. To add to this, Aunt Christine and Bob live right beside the train tracks. The first few nights it sounded like the trains were coming straight through the window  and it was like they were never going to end…I was soon able to even sleep through that.

We had a few interesting nights with Cameron – poor little guy has at least 4 teeth coming in. The best was the night that he was up at 12 and there was nothing wrong with him, he was just awake and wanted to play….he finally went back to sleep at 3am after watching Thomas the Tank Engine!

Trains:

Cameron loves Thomas. He watches the programme from start to finish and doesn’t move. We got him a video and he can sit for about 40 minutes of it.  It was really cute – there is a part in the film where Thomas is crossing a bridge and the bridge is falling- Cameron cried when he saw it and now he looks away…

He also says t when you show him Thomas and ask who he is -it is very cute. Aunt Christine might not agree as Cameron whacked her in the face twice to move her out of the way so he could see Thomas!

Teeth :

As I mentioned Cameron has at least 4 teeth coming in – one molar is through on the bottom left side. There is another on the way through on the right side and it looks like the 4 eye teeth are making their way up and down. He wasn’t too bad all things considered, but he did have a couple of rough days.

Clocks:

Cameron still likes clocks and he now points and says tic toc when he sees a clock – too cute :-)

Getting around:

Rolling-

Cameron still relies on the roll to get him to places, and usually ones he is not meant to go to!

Crawling-

Cameron is still working on his crawling. He has now developed a great commando worm (break dancing) crawl. He spent many frustrated days trying to figure out how to move forward, but he has mastered it now. He still isn’t crawling ‘properly’ but at least he is getting to where he wants to go much more quickly. He can also get from his belly to a sitting up position and he has stopped throwing himself back which is great :-)

Walking-

Well we all made the mistake of walking with Cameron. He loves it, he can’t wait till he can do it himself and neither can we!!!!! Aunt Christine and Bob spent most of their time walking Cameron up and down the hallway. He got very sly with it all…He would manoeuvre himself so that he could grab their fingers and then he would stand up and he was off (check out the videos). It was great except that we all witnessed his temper when he wanted to walk, but no one could walk with him!

Words:

None really, but he does say mama and dada, and it seems that he knows who we are and when to use them. When we came back on Monday (Brett had been home for a week himself) Cameron smiled at him and said dada :-)

Pointing and staring:

Cameron continues to stare at everyone, and now he points at them too!

Cousins:

Cameron and Emily are much more aware of each other now and even had moments of interaction with each other. I am pleased to report that there were no ‘fights’ for toys or random whacks on the face etc.

New friends:

Cameron met a lot of new people (Aunt ’s friends) and ‘loved’ them all – Rosalind, who is blonde, got lots of smiles and shy looks, and then she got lots of kisses. Elise, who is also blonde, also got lots of smiles. Janet is also a friend for life. Her earrings and glasses might be what sparked Cameron’s interest at first, but it was clear the second time we met Janet that there was more to it. She also got lots of smiles and shy looks – she then walked with Cameron so… :-) And Elizabeth, also blonde, was treated the same way as all blondes with cheeky smiles and shy looks!

Emily:

Emily is doing really well. She is crawling all over the place and is very close to walking. She is a happy little girl who has lots of smiles for everyone and is a wee character – cheeky wee character!

We had a lovely afternoon on Sunday – her first birthday, if you can believe it!

The time away was great. Cameron was good, and we did quite a bit. We all really enjoyed ourselves.

Enjoy the pictures and videos – I will try to keep up to date with my posts so that they are not so long in future! :-)
