The past 2 weeks have been very busy for Cameron so this update is probably going to be a bit lengthy…so, grab a cup of tea or coffee or perhaps a beer and enjoy reading about our ‘little’ guy’s first Christmas…..
Christmas Eve
Cameron, Brett and I headed down to Mum and Dad’s (where we spent most of the Christmas holidays) in the afternoon and Aunt Christine and Robert arrived in the afternoon. As usual the boys headed out for a few drinks (just one more…) and the ladies stayed in. We opened one gift on Christmas Eve and Brett and I were SO suprised to have been given tickets to see Mama Mia (on Boxing Day) – it was a great start to a great Christmas.
Christmas Day:
Brett had to work from 7am – 3pm so we didn’t do too much in the morning. Cameron opened his gift from Santa – a Zoo that has lots of different animals and 5 wonderful songs that stick in your head every time you hear them and you find yourself singing them to yourself all day long! Anyway, Cameron got to spend some time with everyone as everyone played with his new toy…
Granny, Grampa and Aunt Christine showing Cameron how to play with his new toy!
Once Brett was home we opened our gifts and as usual we were all very lucky and got lots of great gifts. Cameron was spoiled rotten by everyone – he got lots of lovely clothes and a few great toys.
We went out for dinner – not the Chateau Laurier this year…no this year we went to Kristie’s. We were able to walk there from my Mum and Dad’s and we were all really impressed with how nice the meal was. It was a really nice time. Cameron did really well. He sat in the high chair and just looked around not bothering anyone. He was eyeing up a blonde at the table behind us….it should be noted that she was 70 if she was a day…but this information about blondes will prove to be quite interesting later on….
As usual, the boys stayed in the restaurant for one more beer and the ladies and Cameron headed home. We decided to take a few photos of Cameron in his Christmas outfit that Granny and Grampa gave him.

Robert got Cameron this great hat for his Christmas – it’s a little big, but still cute…
We couldn’t stop laughing when we saw the skip of the hat from the side….
Boxing Day:
Brett was working Boxing Day too. We didn’t do very much. Stewart, Kate and Emily arrived in the afternoon. They are all doing well although they were all fighting a bit of a cold while they were here. Emily is her usual self – crazy. She has so much energy! She wasn’t feeling herself so she was a bit more tame than usual, but she didn’t let us down – she was playing in the shopping bag, rolling around all over the place and balancing her toys on her thumb – she’s great. She is very close to crawling, and boy the better watch out when she starts moving – there will be no stopping her!
Like before, Cameron and Emily acknowledged that the other one existed, but that was about it. Cameron did get Emily back for the eye poke of 2 visits ago and he pulled her hair while we tried to get a nice picture of the two of them together…this is the best one, so as you can see we weren’t really successful!
The rest of the holidays seem to have all rolled in together – I don’t know what happened which day so…
What did Cameron get up to over the holidays? Well….
- he got a new tooth – that makes 3 on the bottom and a couple more coming through
- he learned to clap his hands – thanks to Emily, Aunt Christine and Ganny
- he has started to eat some finger foods – Mum Mums (they are rusks of rice)
- he has started to feed himself – I found these dipper things that are like a spoon, but not really and he dips it into his fruit and is learning to put it to his mouth. He understands what to do, but the food doesn’t always make to his mouth. Feeding times have also doubled or tripled depending on the day.
- he loves to go on his Dad’s shoulders and look around at everyone
- he has learned to cry when he wants picked up – he’s getting fly
- he has decided to like getting his picture taken – as long as it is by uncle Stewart with the big fancy camera
- he has decided that he likes blondes – he was flirting with his aunt Kate the whole time she was here – it was very funny
- he loved pulling aunt Christine’s hair
- he started trying to guilt trip Granny into picking him up- not successful most of the time
- he loved looking at the Christmas lights with Grampa – they sat at the window for ages
He was a very busy boy over the holidays. He is doing well and is coming along well – we can see him changing every day and doing more and more each day too.
We all had a nice time during the holidays – we all eat too much, some of us drank too much but best of all there were lots of laughs and lots of great memories….. Best wishes to everyone for 2009 !
Enjoy the photos on flickr – there are a lot.
