September 2008

So, it was a busy weekend, but a fun one!

Stewart, Kate and Emily were here for a visit. They arrived Thursday night and stayed till Sunday morning.

Friday:

Cameron and I went to our music class on Friday morning. It was good, although I have to do far too much singing for anyone’s liking! Cameron is the youngest one in the group – although he doesn’t look it! and at times he was more interested in the other kids than the sounds and songs that were going on around him. It was good and I think as he gets older he will enjoy it more and more.  We already know that he likes music – Brett plays his guitar to Cameron quite often and Cameron just stares and lies back and relaxes. We also always have music on in the house so, Cameron is surrounded – if Brett doesn’t write that million dollar song, Cameron will! :-)

Brett was working so Cameron and I headed down to Mum and Dad’s to see everyone. Emily is doing really well…she is crazy busy. She never stops moving (check out the video on flickr- River dance, here she comes!) or talking and she is always smiling – it’s great!

So, they were a bit more aware of each other this time…we lay them down together…Cameron lay not doing too much and Emily was kicking, rolling around and ‘talking’ it was pretty funny really. They are the two extremes of the activity scale!

 Just hanging out together :-)

Emily likes to talk to her uncle Brett…I think cause he listens :-)

We went home in the afternoon and did not much at all. Stewart and Kate picked up a Bumbo chair for Cameron – it helps them sit up…Cameron is too cute in it…

I forgot to fix the red eye..oops…

Saturday:

Brett was working, so Cameron and I headed down to Mum and Dad’s. Again, the two munchkins spent some time together on the mat…Emily was moving around like crazy and Cameron was just checking things out and watching the t.v. From there first encounters it is difficult to tell whether or not they will get along, but so far Emily has kicked and poked Cameron in the eye and he didn’t seem too bothered (check out the video on flickr) so I’d say they will probably end up just fine – like brother and sister no doubt!

We went to the football in the afternoon – Carleton won 6-1 – and then we all went back to Mum and Dad’s for a BBQ…as usual Stewart did the BBQing and it was great.

Sunday:

Brett was working in the morning, so Cameron and I went down to Mum and Dad’s before the football. Aunt Carol and Uncle Hugh popped in…it was great to see them and they noticed a big difference in Cameron. We went to the football -Carleton won 3-1 – and then it was home time and Brett and I didn’t do much yesterday afternoon.

And now it is Monday again!

I have posted a few more photos and some really good videos on flickr…enjoy:-)

 Tummy time…

Cameron had a swimming class this morning…it is hilarious…he lies back crosses his legs, chews on his fingers and just looks around. He is neither here nor there. He doesn’t get upset and he doesn’t get overly excited. He goes on his back and on his tummy – as long as he can get his hands in his mouth he is quite happy. We tried playing soccer today – kicking the ball – Cameron didn’t uncross his legs, so I had to help him! So, I figure, as long as he isn’t crying he must be enjoying it.

He still loves his bath – he is in the big tub now, and kicks his legs and laughs…he cries when you take him out!

 bath time.

We start music class on Friday – can’t wait to see what he does there!

Cameron continues to sleep all through the night – 9:30pm – 8:30am, usually. He is awake during the night, but he just lies in his crib, talks to himself and then falls back asleep. He sometimes will wake up earlier and talk and play before we get him up…he must be happy…it’s great.

He continues to eat and poop well. He doesn’t seem to be getting any heavier, but he does seem to have stretched a bit.

He has found his voice! He ‘talks’ a lot now. He also laughs and giggles and he has a developed a high pitched squeal -he must have discussed this with cousin Emily!

Brett has ‘taught’ Cameron to blow bubbles…he loves doing it -Camreon too :-) The only problem… Cameron ends up with slobbers all over his face! This is a very close close-up, but you can see what I mean…

 slobbers!

So, everything is good…We are looking forward to a visit this weekend from Stewart, Kate and Emily. I will try my best to get a couple of photos of the two of them together.

I meant to post this the other day, but….

It took Cameron a couple of days to get back to normal after his jabs, but he is doing fine.

Wedensday he had is first swimming class and he seemed to enjoy it. He was pretty relaxed and just kind of took everything in. He seemed to like it – there were no tears – he licked the water, instead of blowing bubbles, and he lay on his back with his feet crossed, just haning out.  It was fun, and I met up with a girl that I went to high school with (there with her little boy) – it was good.

Cameron and I spent the Thrusday at Granny Mackie’s – Brett had worked the night shift, so it meant he could get some peace and quiet.

Friday we didn’t do much.

Saturday we got Cameron’s new car seat installed (rear facing for up to 35lbs)…The installer seemed a bit shocked when I said my ‘little’ guy was only 4months, but he is too big for his other seat. We went to the soccer in the afternoon – Carleton won and Cameron was awake for the whole second half :-) The fresh air tired him out, he slept from 6:30pm to 6am!!! and again last night, he slept from 9:30pm to 8am…we love the soccer. Carleton won again on Sunday.

Today has been a bit of a lazy day. Brett worked nights again last night so he was sleeping most of the day. Cameron and I just ‘hung out’ and that’s about it really. It was Granny Walker’s birthday today – Happy Birthday -Cameron spoke to her yesterday :-)

A few new things:

Cameron has started to press his lips together, produce a sound and a great deal of bubbles.

He is giggling a lot, he makes the new noise and then laughs – we can hear him doing it in his crib when he is by himself – too cute.

He also now crosses his legs all the time – when eating, when sleeping etc. it’s funny.

He hides his face - covers it with his arm when he is eating and playing shy.

All in all he is doing well and keeping us busy :-)

I have posted a few more photos and videos on flickr – enjoy.

Cameron is doing well.

We were at the doctor’s yesterday, again more tramatizing for myself and Brett than for Cameron. So, the doctor was very happy with Cameron’s progress. She was impressed with his strength when he was on his tummy (he had his head up high) and she was also impressed at how close he is to being able to turn from his back to his belly. Everything is good. He continues to grow well too…He weighs 18lbs, measures 66cm and his head circumfrence is 42cm. He is off the charts for his weight and his length and right on target for his head measurements. He is doing really well. He is still ‘talking’ all the time and continues to giggle.

Cameron went to his first soccer game on Wednesday. He slept through the whole game! He went to his second game on Sunday and was awake through the whole game – he was very good and only fussed when he wanted to be fed. On a side note – Carleton has won all 3 of their first games. We will be going to 2 games this weekend.

It has been a bit weird not starting back at work, but it won’t be forever so I am going to enjoy every minute of being home with Cameron.

Cameron has his first swimming lesson tomorrow – I will let you know how it went. His music lessons start on the 26th not this week (good thing I checked!)

Spoke to Stewart yesterday – Emily has started to turn from her back to her tummy!

Haven’t taken many new photos, but have taken a few – have posted them on flickr.

I have posted some other photos that Aunt Christine passed on to me, and there is another video of Cameron giggling away…enjoy.

Not too much is new, although Cameron has started laughing. I have uploaded a couple of videos on flickr so check them out.

Cameron is doing really well. He is a happy wee boy, although has a bit of cheecky side to him. At times he will be crying and then will look at you and smile and then he is fine. He is still sleeping, eating and pooing well. He continues to grow. He is in some of his 9 month sleepers and tops and 6 month pants…

Not much else really. Today was the first day back as school – it came and went and made absolutely no difference to me!

We are at the doctor’s on Monday (the 8th) so will post more after that visit :-)
