Well we have been up to a lot since my last post.
Cameron is doing really well.
My new ‘favourite’ picture of Cameron.
He is ‘talking’ quite a bit more, we also get a giggle now and them. He is much more aware of the things that surround him. He has started reaching out for objects put infront of him and they always end up in his mouth. He doesn’t actually chew them, more like lick them – it’s cute. He also still likes tummy time. He has started putting his knees under himself, but that is as far as he gets. He had a bit of a growth spurt, we think, when we were in Toronto. We couldn’t get the food into him quick enough. Things have gotten back to normal now. He is doing well sleep wise. He is awake much more during the day – napping once in the morning for about an hour and then he has a longer nap in the afternoon (2-3hrs) and he is sleeping about 10hrs at night. It’s great!
Last week we went to Toronto.
Monday:
We packed up and left early Monday morning. We had to make 2 stops on the way – one for Cameron and one for Brett! We went into see Aunt Christine and then made our way to Kate and Stewart’s. Emily is doing great – she is a maniac! She is always smiling and ’screaming’. They are happy shrieks, but shrieks all the same – too cute! She never stops, and hardly ever naps, but she sleeps all night too so…She is getting big and starting to look older too.
The doll above Emily is her ‘Emily’ doll, and our Emily kicks the ’stuffing’ out of her. When you are sitting on the couch, you hear the shrieks and laughs and then you see the Emily doll flying around – it’s priceless.
Tuesday:
We did nothing, and I mean nothing in the morning. We watched the Olympics and we all just ‘chilled’ out – it was great! Then the whole lot of us packed up and headed to Aunt Christine and Robert’s. Carol had arrived Monday night from Scotland so we got to see her too (4yrs since her last visit). She is doing well adn in true Scottish tourist style got completely burnt the first day of her holidays! We had a lovely dinner and a great laugh.
Wednesday:
Cameron and I went and visited Jen, Leah, Emma, Claire, Sheelagh and Carter. (Jen and Sheelagh are highschool friends). It was great to see them both – I hadn’t seen Sheelagh since 1997 or so. Their kids are great. Cameron did well, and Cater took a liking to him – it was very cute, he was stroking his forehead.
That evening, Kate and Stewart were kind enough to babysit Cameron and Brett and I went to the Toronto BlueJays (baseball) game (tickets were a birthday gift from Stewart and Kate to Brett). Stewart leant us his GPS (Global Positioning System) and we headed downtown. We got there fine, watched the game – they lost- and then tried to get home…needless to say we got back to Stewart and Kate’s, it just took us a bit longer than anticipated, and we will leave it at that! The baseball was good and we had great seats.
Stewart and Kate survived babysitting Cameron although he did have a meldown, but it was nothing that another bottle of formula didn’t fix!
Thursday:
Thursday morning we got already and headed up the road. We picked up Aunt Christine and Carol, not before Maureen had a wee cuddle with Cameron, and her son Cameron was so kind and gave our Cameron a lovely book – it had been his favourite, and made our way up to Ottawa. Aunt Christine stayed with us and Carol stayed with Mum and Dad and also with Aunt Carol and Uncle Hugh. Didn’t do much once we got home. It was nice for Aunt Christine to get a chance to spend some time with Cameron.
Friday:
Mum called to let me know that Dad had been asking, several times, if we would be down to see them – Dad hadn’t seen Cameron for 2 wks. Dad had been in Bermuda with the Carleton Soccer team. They got on well although it rained almost everyday they were there, and Dad had to buy Tide (detergent) to wash the strips at it cost him $36 American!!! Anyway, we went down and visited with them on Friday.
Saturday:
We went to see Aunt Carol and Uncle Hugh. They noticed a big difference in Cameron. So, while we were there we headed into the pool – Cameron and I. He loved it. It was a bit cold, but he wasn’t bothered. As you will see in the photos he is a bit like a European tourist – his wee belly is hanging over his speedo!
We took a few photos and then headed home.
Great Aunt Carol and Great Uncle Hugh and Cameron.
Sunday:
We didn’t do too much, a lazy morning watching the closing ceremony of the Olympics and then we went to Mum and Dad’s and that was it really.
Monday:
Aunt Christine and Carol went back down to Toronto.
The rest of the week we have been tyding up – getting rid of things, Brett’s been working and really that’s about all.
Mum and Dad are back tomorrow – they went to Cape Cod with Iain and Janette for the week (on a bus tour- same one they did to New York).
Cameron has his next appointment at the doctor’s on the 8th of September (second set of shots), but apart from that not much is planned for the next few weeks. Dad’s soccer season starts next week, so that will be something to do.
That’s all for now.
